My best friend who lived across the street from me, his brother Stanley was in a group with DJ Polo called Spinmasters, which also included a veteran MC by the name of Ronnie Gee, who made one of the first rap records as well called “Raptivity.” “Raptivity” was sampled by many people - just the intro where he says, “Warning: the Surgeon General of Chilltown, New York, has determined that the sounds you’re about to hear can be devastating to your ear.” He would always say, “Kool Moe Dee ain’t got nuthin’ on me! Melle Mel ain’t got nuthin’ on me!” He was always big on himself, in a good way. Butcher/Jazzy Drewski (Andrew Venable, born 1969): In ’76 to ’77, which would put me somewhere between 7 and 8 years old, I lived around so many DJs. They consisted of Eddie O.J., Will Seville, Mikey D, and DJ Mr. One of the first rap acts I saw was a group from Queens called the Clientele Brothers. Shortly after, one of the first groups I remember hearing about was Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. I just knew that people was talking in harmony on top of the beat. When I first heard about it, I didn’t know about the people from the Bronx. From what I know about the history, it started in the Bronx, and it hit Queens last. I can’t remember if it was my brother playing Hip-Hop on the radio or if it was someone walking down the street playing Hip-Hop on the radio. My older brother was more hip to what was going on in the street. Royal Rich (Rich Romain, born 1970): It was 1977. I grew up in Queens, that’s true, but my first exposure to it was out in North Babylon, Long Island. I’m hearing all of this stuff that nobody would hear probably if they weren’t next door to this particular house. They were from all over the city, so I got exposed to stuff from the Bronx and Brooklyn I’m hearing Staten Island - Force MCs. It just so happened that my next-door neighbor had a lot of foster kids. The guys in Long Island, they would bring the Cold Crush tapes in because a lot of those guys had family in the Bronx, they had family in Brooklyn, they had family in other places, so they would go home. This was in Long Island, because I used to go back between Queens and Long Island every summer. The very first Hip-Hop I heard, at around 8 years old, was probably the Cold Crush. LL COOL J (James Todd Smith, born 1968): I was the first generation to grow up on Hip-Hop. This new generation consisted of folks born in the mid ’60s through the early ’70s and often came from Queens, Brooklyn, and Long Island.Ī combination of skill, luck, and enthusiasm brought the Extravagant 3 together, and those same forces put them on extremely different life trajectories. The old guard was generally born in the late ’50s through the early ’60s and primarily came out of the Bronx and Harlem. A New School of MCs, DJs, and producers were supplanting the careers of what came to be known as the Old School - rap’s first generation. It was the beginning of drum machines, synthesizers, scratching, and street clothes. It was the tail end of the era when group names ended in numbers, live instrumentation was used on records, and outrageous performing outfits were par for the course. The Extravagant 3 existed at the beginning of many regime changes in Hip-Hop. He worked hard for many years, collaborating with many people along the way. Contrary to accepted mythology, LL didn’t appear out of nowhere fully formed. Butcher is best known for his turntablism and production work in the ’90s with Kool G Rap LL COOL J ascended to solo MC superstardom in late ’84, initially with help from an occasional Extravagant 3 DJ named Cut Creator (Phil Jean-Remy, the first of two people bearing the moniker). Butcher (né Jazzy Drewski), Royal Rich, and LL COOL J served as a jumping-off point for a handful of musical careers. They lasted six months, never made a record, and never played a single show, but the experiences of MCs Dr. Founded by three teens from Queens in 1983, the group may not even be a footnote in the annals of rap. Even the most diehard of fans may be unaware of the story of the Extravagant 3. Beneath Hip-Hop’s surface lies a wellspring of untold stories about the players that made the movement what it is today.

Eventually the province became known as Gallia Narbonensis and another road ( Via Aurelia) linked it with Italy along the coast. In 118 BC they founded Narbo Martius, a Roman colony along Via Domitia, a military road from Italy to Spain which crossed the Alps. In a series of military expeditions in the 120s, they subjugated some of the local tribes and, with the acceptance of other tribes and the support of Marseille, a Greek town and a longtime ally of Rome, they were able to gain control of the coastal region of Southern France which was called Gallia Transalpina or Ulterior to distinguish it from Gallia Cisalpina or Citerior, i.e. Narbonne: a section of Via Domitia in the centre of the townĪt the end of the Third Punic War in 149 BC the Romans ruled most of the Iberian peninsula, but they had not conquered the territories along the Mediterranean Sea between Italy and Spain. Teams may have up to two rivalries.īYU vs Utah (future rivalry after Utah goes through nonAQ) It has been decided that all teams must have at least one rival by the time their third season starts. Likewise, the winner of the game gets +1 BCS point, which helps them in the BCS rankings at the end of the year. Rivalry games don't have limits on fouls, and wizards are allowed. If the other team agrees to the rivalry, it will be listed on this page and be official until one of the teams drops out. Generally, if both coaches try but simply can't meet up, the result will be a forfeit tie.īefore the start of each season, coaches may submit a challenge to other teams for a rivalry game between the two squads. Forfeits will be assigned based on communication to ex-convict about scheduling conflicts. Such actions are missing games, giving up during games, conceding matches, and anything else the league views as detrimental to college blood bowl.įorfeits will be assessed strictly on the week deadline date. Likewise, there are other violations that might cause a team to get a Warning, or even go on Academic Probation. Luckily the NCBB has too much paperwork to sort through to ever stop these violations, and thus it is commonly accepted that no rules (except still having a limit of two dirty players), apply for rivalry games. Of course the passion that both sides have for critical rivalry games is so great that coaches are willing to look the other way when a fifth boot is dropped, or even if a fireball hits the field. Thus it was mandated by the ruling body that all schools must have at least one rival by the time that their third season begins. It has been determined that the lack of rivalry games is hurting television revenue in the NCBB, which clearly cannot continue. Programs are limited in the amount of funds they can add from their treasury to buy inducements the cap is 100k. With all NCBB games being played at neutral sites, it is tough for one side to wield any sort of home-field advantage, and thus wizards are not allowed. Teams on academic probation are not able to go to any bowl games, and they get lowered to 'Warned' status for the next season (warned teams can go to bowls, though.)ĭue to the fan-friendly desires of the TV contracts in the NCBB, is is considered unsportsmanlike and thus illegal to train more than two players to play dirty. If a team commits five (or more) fouls in a game, it gets a warning, and if it happens again, the team goes on academic probation, during which the NCBB authorities investigate the obvious low level of intelligence of your coaches and players. Sometimes a first-year player (Freshman) will be able to avoid jumping straight to Sophomore status under the Red-shirt rules, which are explained further below. Player classification goes Freshman -> Sophomore -> Junior -> Senior -> Graduated. The most unique aspect of our league each player can only participate in four seasons worth of games before they must graduate either to the NBFL (another league on FUMBBL that uses lets teams draft our former players) or regular, boring life. The NCBB has several rules in place that help make college blood bowl a better experience for both fans and players alike. After the bowl season is complete, new coaches are found, awards are voted on, players are reclassified, and any seniors are graduated from the team. The Standings are formulated by four seperate polls, as will be explained further below. Once the regular season is complete, we come up with a Final BCS Standings in order to pair up teams in our various bowl games. Veteran NCBB programs will have both Conference and Out-of-Conference games each season, in order to foster long-term rivalries while also keeping things fresh. After that, they are promoted to the major conferences. Generally, new teams will be grouped together in a seperate conference for their first season as they gain the skills needed to compete. We have nine game seasons, in addition to a possible bowl game at the end for those who qualify. We currently have conferences, rivalries, coach's polls, bowl games, award voting, an All-American team, graduation, and other fluffy aspects to represent this conenction. The league is based off of NCAA college football, and thus we try to emulate it as much as possible. Feel free to connect with her on the New Play Exchange, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. The rest may be her dig team, or it might be random people. That's the only explanation I have for why Milly breaks into a statue-like monologue cut together from separate sound clips. I think this is supposed to be a post-apocalyptic Earth where all humans are dead and the only ones still running around are recreations. If she chooses to kill at the end, she turns into one of the talking statues. The whole thing is a test, I think to see if Milly is willing to "learn" (for some definition of the word), or if she's just going to try and destroy the QUBE, instead. She wakes up in what looks like a holding cell and is contacted by what we now know is an illusion - the tutorial voice, essentially. We're playing as Milly, who calls for help then collapses. We know the game starts with some kind of dust storm on red planet - possibly Earth with a red sky. After The Last Station and The Surge, I'm not sure I even have the energy to speculate about a game's storyline to the point of writing straight-up fan fiction. So here we go, huh? Another game which confuses "not telling me anything" with compelling writing. Well, this is a bit of an old thread but this forum seems to move slow enough that it shouldn't really matter. I think most of this is very solid and has a lot of evidence to back it up, but if you have anything to add, blanks to fill in, or questions to ask I would love to discuss more. Take me! My heart BEATS, but I want it to BEAT for you" Is that why it is turning people into statues? does that somehow give it life? "Please take me. At one point it is mentioned that the qube mimicks everything it touches, but it can't mimic life. What does she mean by "to learn the truth that is my heart"? Is she refering to the huge heart as "hers"?.Are the statues real people who failed the test?.Was its intent to take over the planet, or just bestow a gift and leave?.She was taught their language through the puzzles and was given a final test before being deemed worthy of the knowledge that the Qube was trying to bestow on humanity. I think thats where the actual game comes into play. I have a slightly far fetched thoery this may mean that Amelia and the Qube turned them into the statues that you see.Īt the end it is mentioned that she must now sleep to wait for the qube to awake her to find the truth. I think this plays into "we stopped them and made them one of us". I suspect that the qube stopped the helicopter (which is the one you see hanging from wires in that once scene). One of the voice logs from the statues mentioned that it started growing and that they were sending a helicopter to get the people who had not yet be assimilated out of there. In the center of that room there are shovels and supply crates all surrounded by lights. Its the room where you hit the three panels to hear the last 3 memories. You even go back to the origonal spot where the cube shard crashed to earth. There is the point where you get teleported to the place that is overgrown. They found a shard and when she touched it she was influnced by it. My suspiscion is that "you" refers to the Qube god thing and "them" is her dig team. Don't leave me on my own - not without her." I want to become one - she said we would become ONE. Take me! My heart BEATS, but I want it to BEAT for you. |
